St. Vincent Ferrer Parish was founded in 1923. However, it was not until Jun 29th 1954 that construction of the permanent church was started. The church was finished in less than two years and is one of the last Catholic churches of the era to be built in a more classic Gothic style instead of the ‘modern’ Catholic designs that followed World War II. St. Vincent Ferrer is also one of the few Catholic Churches in the Archdiocese of Chicago that is owned and staffed by the Dominican Order.
